Senior Waffen SS General
I had subsequently read that both were promoted in 1944. Ditriech on Aug 1st 1944. Haussar apperently was promoted later that year, but had his actual promotion date back dated to August 1st 1944. Although, Ditriech was in the SS earlier, wasn't Haussar higher rank in the regular Army (General). Was...

Who was the Commander in Chief for the East during 1944 and 1945.
I have read several references to a CinC West, but nothing about one for the East.

Most Decorated vs Highest Decorated Soldier ??
There seems to be a major misconception which is widely published in various publication, forums, papers, ect... This has to do with the difference in identifying Germany's most decorated soldier and Germany's highest decorated soldier. There seems to be allot written about Han Rudel being Germany’s...

GFM Rommel's personal effects (Medals, uniform, baton)
I recently picked up the book "Trail of the Fox” by David Irving. I noticed that on the back of the book cover there was a picture of two officer caps and two GFM batons. Inside the back cover was the caption "The caps and batons of GFM Erwin Rommel from Wilhelm Ritter von Schramm" Is...

If done in the presence of the Hitler, where did it occur and was Schroener presented with GFM's baton. Was he awarded any other decoration during his promotion to GFM. Are ...

General Remer - July 20th 1944
I read that Major Remer, who was a commander in Berlin on July 20th , 1944, was in the presence of Joseph Gobbles, who at that time turned over a telephone to Remer, who then heard the voice of Adolf Hitler. According to history, Hitler gave Remer direct orders. Did this actaully occur ? With everyh...
