I found one source, that it was the Gebirgsjägerregiment 26, but it is presumably wrong. Maybe it was not a gebirgs unit (and maybe the number incorrect also) Any...

Thanks, Decker, I don't have the books wich contain details of that day (H. Spaeter: Panzerkorps "Großdeutschland" or Thomas L. Jentz: Die deutsche Panzertruppe Band 2) but it's clear for me now.

Thanks again,

Operations of the Grossdeutschland Pz Gren Div on 19 Aug1943

If I know correctly, they had a counter attack on that day. Anybody knows more details of that event? Area, results, etc?

Thanks in advance,

Your sources and info again not the best. What kind of "official calculation" was the source? The 2nd Army's losses were approx 30 000 (KIA, MIA, WIA) till the end of October, 1942 (mostly during the Operation Blau, and the bridgehead battles) The losses in early 1943 were 96 000 (KIA, MIA...

The 176 000 for the all Hungarian units' losses between 04 1942-04-1943 also impossible.
The 2nd Hungarian Army's losses were less, than 130 000 in this period (KIA, MIA, WIA, incl Jewish labour workers)
