hello my fellow collectors,

I am new to the site, so If i don't get it right at first be patient. I am putting together a postal exhibit titled "German Army Feldpost 1940-44" and I need some help. I am trying to get feldpost numbers because the only two michel catalogues on this are expensive. I have gotten feldpost numbers from web sites and blog posts, is there a easy way to do this?

Some of the purple markings are faded or hard to read is there a easy way to see them? I do not speak German and the on line translation pages do not work well. Can I get some advise on these things please?

also can someone tell me what unit these feldposts go to: 22863, 22813 these are both on back of a cover from abt. 216 1 battalion, 38638c and 47535, 47535e and 47535c from same unit but purple stamp is faded.

You can use this site to search for Feldpost Numbers - http://www.stampsx.com/ratgeber/stempel-datenbank.php - just put the number (leave off any letters) in the box third from bottom named oder Nummer eines Nummernstempels amd press SEARCH. This database doesn't list any numbers 10000 and below. For those you will need the database, either in book form or on cd-rom but as you mentioned, they are very expensive. So, using the site the entries for your first FpNr is...

1.9.1939-1.1.1940 2. Kompanie Straßenbau-Bataillon 532,
23.9.1943 2. Kompanie Bau-Pionier-Bataillon 532.

...while the entry on the database has a slightly different entry in terms of the dates...
(Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) 2. Kompanie Straßenbau-Bataillon 532,
(24.8.1943-5.4.1944) 23.9.1943 2. Kompanie Bau-Pionier-Bataillon 532.
