my grandfather wilhelm murkoster
all i know about my grandfather is that he was part of the sixth army and was captured by the russians and did not return home till the 50's can antone tell wat unit he may be part of from this picture i know he had something to do with logistics ive contacted the wast jus need my mother to write to them so they will release the information to myself any help would be greatley apreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Difficult to say from the photo what unit he may have been in. Certainly Army. The shoulder boards, waffenfarbe, edges may be black - in which case he belonged to an engineer/pioneer unit. But this is difficult to say for sure from a b/w photo. WaSt may be the best option for you and your family.
