Author: Hilmar von Campe, "Ex-Hitler Youth"

I stumbled upon this man's name as his book bills him as an Ex-Hitler Youth. His book, Defeating the Totalitarian Lie is subtitled, "A Former Hitler Youth Warns America." The publisher is World Net Daily (WorldNetDaily, also known as WND, is a socially conservative website).

I'm not interested in politics, conspiracy theorists, etc. What interested me is that part of Mr. von Campe's bio mentioned his being a tank gunner -- and POW -- in Yugoslavia, but that's about it. I thought his "Hitler Youth" comments might be an oblique way of saying he was in the LSSAH, but I found an image of him on guard duty in what appears to be a Großdeutschland uniform:

Does anyone have any information on his service, awards, etc? I'm puzzled why he's making big deal about being in the Hitler Youth, when he ought to be proud of his Großdeutschland time.
