Here's an entry from the Volksbund fuer Kriegsgraeberfuersorge -- there is a chance this might be the soldier you are looking for. (go to http://www.volksbund.de/kontakt_links/)

Nachname: Marciniak
Vorname: Josef
Dienstgrad: Jäger
Geburtsdatum: 19.03.1926
Geburtsort:
Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 05.09.1944
Todes-/Vermisstenort:

Josef Marciniak ruht auf der Kriegsgräberstätte in Dagneux (Frankreich) .
Endgrablage: Block 34 Grab 357
Abbott: This sure is a beautiful forest.
Costello: Too bad you can't see it for all those trees!
