Can any one name the 4 Batteries that comprised the 2/4th Lt AA Regiment R.A.A circa late 1942? Thanks.
Thanks. Dave.

2/4 LAA Regt was formed in N Africa in 1942 from men taken from other regts (and a disbanded infantry atk coy). This suggests the batteries were sequentially numbered. The only 1942 reference I can find is 12 LAA Bty, however also a later mention of the regt having 11 LAA Bty in New Guinea, at which time the regt seemd to have only 3 btys (36 guns). The logic of all this would be that the first 3 regts had 3 btys, with 2/4 being the first/only to have 4 and numbered 10 - 13. However, I've found no reference to 4 btys.

notes:

2/4th Light AA Regt RAA in 2/42 had the 10th, 11th and 12th Light AA batteries (see table F37 9th Australian Infantry Division Syria)

It had been formed on 5/1/42 from the disbanded 26th AT company and men from 2/1st and 2/3rd light and the 2/2nd heavy AA regiments.

At El Alamein p92 notes the Light AA regiment as having 3 batteries but gives no numbers.

2/4 Light AA regiment, 9th Australian Infantry Division 30/11/43 Huon Peninsula is noted as having the 10th and 12th light AA batteries. (p54 table F39)

Given nigelfe'scomments re the 11th battery I think it is pretty safe to suggest that the 2/4th Light AA Regt had the 10th, 11th and 12th batteries at El Alamein
