Budapest Shield?

Post by Alex Dekker »

At a German auction I did see a picture of a campainshield from Budapest. I figured it was never issued, or those men who got one, never survided, right?

So was there a Budapest shield, or not?

According to my books about German decorations and uniforms (e.g. Ailsby, Klietmann, Lumsden, Davis...) there was no Budapest shield.

I figured so too. I've never seen a shield like this one, but I also had never seen a Lorient shield (though Lumsden got a picture of it, Niemann too, Hartung also, etc.).

So we can say it's a fake one or a fantasy shield right?

Thanks Grzesio!

Lexie, a sketch of the Ärmelschild Budapest, it was never produced and never issued.
