Bocca del Pignone, Italy (January 11th, 1945)

Post by 101stDoc »

On January 11th, 1945, a German column was ambushed on the Genoa to Spezia road nr Bocca del Pignone. One truck was reported destroyed, & a staff car was riddled with MG fire. Supposedly, there were roughly 30 German casualties.

Any ideas as to the ID of the German unit, or references to this skirmish?

Could this be an action of the SAS troopers dropped for Op GALIA?
