hey folks,
what are some good books for u-boat impressions? i just ordered osprey's "Grey Wolf: U-Boat Crewman in World War II" and "U-Boat Crews 1914-45" to use.
i realize it's not that hard to put together an impression of an on board crew member...being that looking at photos and reading, the regs. were rather relaxed. i'm just wondering if anyone knows of any other books that would be helpful.
thanks

Well...at the risk of advertising, you may want to try 'U-Boat War patrol - The Hidden Photographic Diary of U564' by...er Lawrence Paterson. Hundreds of photos and lots of text about U564 (Suhren) on patrol in summer 1942.
Sorry about the shameless plug.
Also strongly recommend:
'Steel Boat and Iron Hearts' by Hans Goebeler and John Vanzo
'Iron Coffins' by Herbert Werner
to name but two.
There are several excellent German memoirs that haven't been translated into English.
