Hi,
Physcially, the RK is larger- it's double-sided, is suspended by a flat loop and is worn around the neck; the EK1 was a single-sided medal witha pin on the back; the EK2 was a double-sided medal, the same size as the EK1, and was suspended by a small ring (although it was never worn, only the ribbon was).
Here's a link to a series of articles that will give you nice, detailed explanations of the medals: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/iron_cr ... ssmain.htm
