Hello Behblc:
You beat me to the mention of King's idiocy in not adopting the recommendation of the RN for convoying merchant ships along the east coast of the US. Many a good sailor and merchant ship went to the grave, because King did not like the British and would not take their advice. He deserved to be court-martialed for it.

If the entire Fleet turned out to be gay it would not cause me to blush nor rant and rave , nor would if make me think less of them.

Not the entire fleet, only the Board of Admiralty. Same goes for the Army with its War Council.
