Advice for collectors of Third Reich postal material

Post by Geoffrey Jamieson »

I advise collectors of Third Reich stamps and covers to consider joining the Germany Philatelic Society and its sub-unit the Third Reich Study Group. You can reach the GPS on the web at http://www.gps.nu. I have been a member for 30 years and have never been disappointed in the vast amount of useful information and expertise available and disseminated to members. For catalogue evaluation of your stamps, use the Michel Deutschland Spezial catalogue which is published annually. In the appendices you will find a list of the names and addresses of the official German Prüferen, each of which is a specialist in a particular field (eg, Inselpost, Ruhrkessel, Feldpost, etc etc). Believe me, you will be astonished at the high quality of information you can get from this organization.

Hi Geoffrey,

I was also a member of the GPS, I had no idea that they were still running, I will take a look at the website soon. I was myself a member some 25 years ago, but joined the BDPh when I moved to Germany.

Do you remember two of my friends from the Third Reich Study Group?

John Rawlings and Mike Passmore? Is Will Payne still active?

Best regards, Bill Medland

Bill- 'sorry, but I don't have any knowledge of them. I'm virtually alone in this locality in collecting postal items of the era and have not attended a convention in all my years of membership. You should be able to find out from the GPS Membership secretary.
Cheers, Geoff
