Thanks again for remembering me, I don't know where you find all this information, but it is much appreciated.
Many regards,

Re: Crossing of the River MAAS 1940
Hello to all ; something more here................Well not specifically dealing with the Meuse crossing, but surely related to the 254 ID (I think)...........
The Maas - Waal Canal.
The bridges at Hatert, Malden, Heumen, Neerbosch and Nijmegen, were to be taken by several raids carried out by a German Force called "Sonderverband Weber". This force comprised the SS-AA (of the SS-V Division), the MG Btl 15 and one infantry battalion of the 254. ID. But the endeavours failed.
However at Hatert the Germans had managed to win a narrow bridge-head, but Major Weber refused to let the motorised troops cross over the half destroyed bridge. After that, the fate of the whole operation was sealed.
Anyone has more information on this actions and Maj. Weber ( I think he was CO of the Infantry Battalion). Cheers. Raúl M .

Hi Tigre,
This information is very intriguing! I'd love to know which battalion was involved. It seems the more answers you find, the more questions arise.
Thanks again for the data.

Kev

Re: Crossing of the River MAAS 1940
Hello to all ; Kev AFAIK the only works dealing with the 254 ID are regarding the history of this division on the Eastern Front........so it seems that someone who has the KTB of the 254 ID or the XXVI AK can shed some light here.......Cheers. Raúl M .

Re: Crossing of the River MAAS 1940
Hello to all ; just to clarify something the so called "Sonderverband Weber" was mentioned here
http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/1940/41907 ... 0-a-2.html
but it seems they got a bit confused over there because in fact the Task Force was called "Group Grave" under command of Major Einstmann........Actually there was a Weber but he was Oberstleutnant and CO of the IR 481 which took intact the bridge at Gennep (the III./ IR 481 under Maj. Schenk).
A detailed info here http://www.waroverholland.nl/index.php? ... s-waalline
