Is it the movie The Final Countdown, from the year 1980?

Well, well, well! What should I do here..?

The answer "Final Countdown" does'nt really answer the whole question first posted on this riddle.
It is the movie I was looking for in which, correctly identified by Phylo, Chester Nimitz
plays TWO roles!

The first picture is ensign Nimitz, ca. 1907.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester_Nimitz

Second picture was USS Maumee, the first USN diesel powered surface ship.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Maumee_%28AO-2%29

Third picture of the dogfight I found on a Japanese site.

The connection I was looking for was Nimitz - A man and ship...
In the movie he "is" still Chief of the Bureau of Navigation. "Senator Chapman" does not
understand the naming of a USN ship as the man is still in active service!
He is appointed CINCPAC on Dec. 17. effective from Dec. 31 1941

So as first asked what shall I do besides passing it on to Knox who has already posted
the next riddle.
Sorry about that Phylo, good manners are often ignored by "newcomers".

Interesting side notes:
For the post-war trial of German Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz at the Nuremberg Trials, Admiral Nimitz furnished an affidavit in support of the practice of unrestricted submarine warfare, a practice that he himself had employed throughout the war in the Pacific. This evidence is widely credited as a reason why Dönitz was only sentenced to ten years of imprisonment.

USS Nimitz, the first of her class of ten nuclear-powered supercarriers, which was commissioned in 1975 and remains in service.
