Could somebody comment the picture below for what we can see? Ranks (and any other detail) would be fine....

To me it looks like a political uniform as he doesn't have eppaulettes on the tunic. However, he appears to be of 'officer' status due to the belt, Walther PPK holster and breeches being worn, amongst others.

I would also guess that he is a WW1 veteran going by the medals being worn.

In another forum I had a suggestion he could be an Ordensburg officer, although I am just wondering what an Ordensburg officer was doing in Trieste on 1944...

I am posting the complete picture as it's of some interest. The other officer on the front is the Oberste Kommissar des Gebietes "Adriatisches Küstenland" Gauleiter Friedrich Rainer while the civilian is the Prefetto (mayor) of Trieste Bruno Coceani.

The officer has been positively identified as the OZAK Deutsche Berater dott. Hinteregger.
