Reichsbahn: Q about a camp Kroischwitz/Frankenstein

Post by Alex Dekker »

A brother of my (Dutch) grandfather did do some forced labour in South-East Germany. I've got two 'Essenkarten' (foodcards) which he had to use. On those cards is the name of the camp printed: 'Lager der Bm 1 Schweidnitz am Bahnhof Kroischwitz', which is changed in 'Bahnmeisterei Frankenstein (Schles.)'.

I can read (and understand) German, but is there something known about this camp? I don't know when he was there (which year that is), but it could be 1944. I'll post a pic in a few days, maybe it helps.

Thanks,

Alex D.

It was part of Gross-Rosen KL complex. Check this site, or mail to museum.

Thanks Pirx, that's a good place to start!

And it explains a lot of this uncle, I think. He never ever talked about the war. He was a funny guy, but when I started about the war, he walked away.

Best,

Alex
