Corrections to AFV deliveries
Hey Guys, I don't mean to be a 'nit-picker' but I have to correct the AFV deliveries for the Jagdpanzer 38 to the ''176.Inf.Div.'' Actually the 'Verteilung' was for the 76.Inf.Div. The Kp. was 1176 and it was bouncing around between Heeresgruppe Sued and Mitte. Some background: On Aug.22.'44, the Pz...

Re: 12 Volksgrenadier Div on 12/16/1944
Hey Guys, The 3 Stu.Gesch. reported in the 11.26.44 Gliederung are definitely Stu.Gesch.IV. On 10.May '44 the H.Za sent the Pz.Jg.Kp.1012, 10 Stu.Gesch.IV, and on 23.May '44, the Kompanie was ordered to be transported to Mogliew, in order to link up with it's parent 12.Inf.Div. The Kp. left Mielau o...

Re: German situation maps on this site
Thank you,
Do you know off-hand at which date did these maps have the Pz.Lagen attached? How often, daily? every 5 days? Is it only certain Fronts, i.e. Kurland, Weichel etc.

Panzerlagen on Situation Maps
I have been following this thread for a while, and I have a question. On the gutenberg-e.org site several of the maps have an attached piece of paper on the side that shows either an OB or a Panzerlagen (tank strength). Will these DVD scan have these extras, when they appear on the situ maps? John N...

Cost of DVD??
Hey John, I have several dozen Microfilm rolls, so I am somewhat a regular in dealing with NARA. What is the cost of each DVD? For a number of years now I have gone through the trouble of converting these into .jpeg or .tif files for several years now. Are the DVDs created with each order, or is the...

From Panzerlage
Z on these Panzer Lagen means "im Zufuehrung" or "en-route" from the H.Za many of these entries are based on orders issued by the OKH or Gen.Insp.d.Pz.Tr. to the receiving Army Group/Armee/Korp or whatever unit. However, some numbers should be treated with caution, in some cases ...

Stu.Gesch.Abt.1383 later 1549
Hello, Don White answered the purpose of the Abteilung. Here's some history of the unit. On Jun.17.44, H.Gr.Mitte was ordered to send a cadre (one Komp.) of the Pz.Jg.Abt.383 to the Tr.Ub.Pl.Mielau in order to convert to Stu.Gesch. On Jun.28.1944, H.Gr.Mitte reported that the Stamm for the new Stu.G...

Mysterious ramblings over 2./741
Hey Guys The story of the H.Pz.Jg.Abt.741 is pretty complicated. First the story of Pz.Jg.Kp.1183: On July 17 '44, the 83.Inf.Div. was ordered to send a Pz.Jg.Kp.(mot.Z) to Mielau, in order to re-equip with Sturmgeschuetz. The Offensives on the E.Front delay the carry out of the order, and the order...

Thank you
Hey Will, Thank you so very much for the heads up! I checked nara.gov to confirm what you said. Although I just made an expensive order for 10 roll, two weeks ago, this price hike forced me to purchase 27 more before it becomes too expensive. Thank you for saving a fellow researcher a good chunk of ...

Microfishe prices
Hey Will, Do you know the prices for microfiche? I haven't been able to find prices for these despite an extensive search. I've wanted to order microfishe for the following Guides: Nr.87, 91, 96, and 99 for OKH Nr.84,85,86,94 and 99(draft) for OKW Where can I find the prices for each, and how to ord...

Stu.Gesch.Abt.1352
Hello, To add some confusion the Stu.Gesch.Abt.1352 was declared ready for employment " verwendungbereit " or " vb "on Feb.20.44 according to I/1577/44 g.v.20.2.44. This was even before any Stu.Gesch. were sent to the unit. Since the unit was going to an occupied area of France, ...

Feldpost Nr.
Hey Martin, This number just fits under the wire with Vol.2, so I can help you with this one. From Jan '40 thru Aug. '43 it is listed as the Rgt.Stab Inf.Regt. 401, in the 9th edition (24.8.43-5.4.44) as of 17.12.43 it is listed as Rgt.Stab.Gren Regt. 401. All with the 170.Inf.Div. as for the "...

Hptm. Scherfs post-503 career.
Hello, Toward the end of Oct. '44 he was sent to Inspektion 6 (Panzers) of the OKH in Bergen. After a few days he was sent to meet with the Chef.d.In.6, Gen. Bollbrinker in Berlin. There he learned that he was to led a panzer unit on a special mission and was sent to meet with Skorzeny. After meetin...

Gren.Regt.92 (mot.)
Hey Ron, Jentz is kinda of confusing on this one. On May.2.43, the I. and II./Sonderverbande 287 including the support elements were renamed Gren.Regt.92(mot.), hence the StuG Batterie 287 was technically renamed StuG Batterie 92. On May.22.43, the StuG Batterie 92 (fr.287) was renamed 1.Kp./Pz.Abt....
