Okay guiys, but if you look at the plans for the Sd. Kfz. 234/4, you won't find a seat for the vehicle commander! So, where did he hang out? (no pun intended.)

Re: The Sd. Kfz. 234 Thread!!!
I've read differing sources, so I have to ask this question: How many men made up the crew of an Sd. Kfz. 234/4?

Re: Panzerjager unit organisation, 1941-43
Hi, I don't have the books with me at the moment but as to this: I cannot find reference to a KStN for a SP Coy with 7.5-cm or 7.62-cm weapons until well into 1942 My recollection is that the first Marder III was produced in April of 1942 and the first Marder II around the same time, so it doesn't s...

Great to hear from you Herr Doktor!!!
Looks like 5th Pz. wasn't what you'd call a "lucky" unit.

Re: 1945 US SUBMARINE: No Mercy for Shipwrecked Japanese
Here's where bad memory comes in: Yes, these incidents were documented, as was a similar incident involving American POW's. I believe I read about them in memoirs of the surviving prisoners, but it was a long time ago. Also, one clearly marked Japanese Hospital ship was sunk, but if you believe it, ...

Re: 78. Sturm-Division, 1.6.1944
Here's a question though that has bugged me for years. During "Bagration", everything I've read mentioned 78th Sturm having Sp. 88mm's in support. Now at the time, the only such weapon available was the Nashorn. The number of Sp.'s indicates the presence of a sPz.Jgr. Abt. But which one???...

Re: Information on a Dieter Jahn panzers
I believe that at one time 5th Panzer regiment was assigned to 25th Panzergrenadier Division, perhaps looking at that Division's records might help.

Re: 1945 US SUBMARINE: No Mercy for Shipwrecked Japanese
Hi Sam, my friend!!!! I haven't seen the video, but the fact is that if you read the memoirs of several Captains and crew members in the USN submarine service in WWII, such killings were common. There are many, many documented stories of Japanese sailors and soldiers being machine-gunned in the wate...

Re: Forgotten AFVs--The Official Sd. Kfz. 250/9 Thread!
Hi! That is indeed a rare vehicle!!!! If memory serves me, there is a magazine specifically for Military Vehicle restorers where there are plenty of ads and offers for parts for restoration. It's primarily aimed at American vehicles and I've forgotten the name of the publication--but try to contact ...

Re: 78. Sturm-Division, 1.6.1944
Gerd Neipold in the Battle for White Russia (so far the definitive work on "Operation Bagration") makes an interesting point about this Division's strength on 20/6/1944. He says that it had a "Trench Strength" (as opposed to overall strength) of 5,712 men to hold a 32 km. frontag...
