I own 2 battlefield dig up dog tags "erkunnungsmarke". Both are complete having both halves of the disc. So, I'm assuming these are the tags of troops taken prisoner, not killed in action. They are both from the same unit. The information on the tags is as follows:
"3/ERS.BTL. S 13"
"114"
"3/ERS.BTL. S 13"
"108"
So the 114 and 108 are the troop number correct?
ERS.BTL. means "ersatz batallion" or replacement battallion correct?
What does the "3" and "S13" signify?
Can anyone tell me what kind of a unit this was and where it may have saw action?

A man who takes a stand is sometimes wrong. A man who never takes a stand is always wrong.
Unfortunately, no- that's why I asked about a picture- the markings just don't make sense to me. Are you absolutely certain it's an 'S' and not a '5'? There was a Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 513...

I'm of the opinion that this could be 'Ersatz Bataillon Schützen 13'- it's in a weird order of course, it should be 'Schützen Ersatz Bataillon 13), but I have seen discs marked in odd orders before... does this seem plausable to anyone else?
