New book about 24. Panzer-Division in Stalingrad

Post by jmark »

Tank combat in the streets of Stalingrad…
The gripping book about a panzer division and its battles in the shattered streets of Stalingrad
In Death of the Leaping Horseman: 24. Panzer-Division in Stalingrad, the untold story of 24. Panzer-Division’s savage fighting on Stalingrad’s outskirts – and in the devastated ruins of the city itself – is revealed in a detailed day-by-day account. Beginning in the heady days of the victorious march toward Stalingrad in August 1942, the book follows the Division into Stalingrad’s suburbs as it is slowly and inexorably sucked into the fiery crucible that was Stalingrad. Panzer losses and casualties increased daily until finally, after three months of draining combat, the Division was reduced to a battlegroup consisting of a couple of panzers and a few hundred men.

With over 200 excellent photos – many never before seen – and complemented by more than 85 maps and aerial photographs, this book presents in minute detail the daily life and battles of one division in a battle that has become infamous for its intensity and cruelty. Woven through official combat reports and entries from the Division’s war diaries are gripping accounts by veterans, many coming from the few remaining survivors – including an Oakleaves winner and several Knight’s Cross winners.

Softcover in A5 format, 560 pages, over 200 photos, 85 maps and aerial photos, 10 appendices, glossary and index.
Only US$38 (plus postage & handling)

Hi Vor,

Thanks for your order. The book will be sent Air Mail today.

I have already received some very good comments about the book. When you receive the book, please post any comments - good or bad - here for all to see. I am very proud of this book (it has taken three years from the initial translation of the divisional war diaries to printing) and think that anyone interested in Stalingrad or panzer divisions will find it great reading.

Hey George,

Thanks for the good wishes. I was thinking about bringing some of my books to Battlebridge Books. Think they'd be interested?

Regards,

Jason

Jason

Your book arrived today!! Half way around the world in 4 days!

Just a quick look and I have to say its looks to be a great read.
And I have to give you very high marks for the quality of the book.

Seeing that you did all the production work yourself the quality is better then most publishing houses produce.

Thanks

Michael,

Thanks for the kind words about the book.

I made sure that the book was printed on high-quality paper. I even got the printer to print the photos at a higher line screen (which basically means better resolution) and had the page sections sewn together (this is invisible but makes the book much stronger). It cost much more this way but I wanted a top quality product. I think I achieved it.
