Any Tigers Besides Bovington Being Restored? As most of us know, Bovinton restored a Tiger. Any King Tigers or Panthers Being resored out there?

I'm pretty sure that there is a Panther (Command version, I believe) that HAS been fully restored to running order. But off the top of my head, I can't remember where it is! Picked up that new Ian Allen "Armor in Detail" volume on the Panther, end it has some really nice photos of a running and refurbished Panther.

There's also the refurbished and running King Tiger in the armr museum at Samur (spelling?), in France. Don't have any really recent info, but I know at one point they had a Tiger II that was at least refurbished to running condition- driven at exhibitions yearly, I believe.

I'd also be interested ifanyone else has any more info!?

Hello CrazyD!

There are also several running tanks in Koblenz. Check out this link:

Be sure to go to the MOVIES and then the to the 9 movies from the Wehrtechnische Studiensammlung in Koblenz link.
You can see among others a Panther driving by! Absolutely great!

A Panther is being restored here in the Bay Area of Northern California. It's one of the current project vehicles at the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation museum, a local private museum collection. Their Panther is the one pulled out of a Polish lake sometime ago.

Yes, I was at Saumur a few months ago and can confirm that the Tigers I (narrow track) and Tiger II are there. The Tiger II, Panther etc are
in operable condition along with practically an entire inventory of German WWII Armored Fighting vehicles.

Additionally, in answer to questions on a related thread, there are additional former French army Panthers in various states of condition on the museum grounds. At least two inoperable Panthers are visible and I suspect others may be in covered storage there.

This is a museum worth seeing, an armor-lovers dream come true. Also a good reason to see the Loire Valley.

No, Mr Wheatcroft doesn't have a site. His collection was reviewed in last issue (August 2003) of Military Machines International magazine.
