The tragedy of the Jews in Frankfurt was not unique to Germany but it did not make much difference for the victims of the Holocaust who were ghettoized, persecuted, and killed in Frankfurt Am Main between 1933 and 1945. In this detailed article, I investigate the history of the Jewish community in Frankfurt since the X century, the coming of the Third Reich in 1933, twelve years of persecution and extermination, as well as locations of historical importance: Bornerplatz Synagogue, the Old Jewish Cemetery, the house of Anna Frank, and others. 100+ archival photos, some of them never published before combined with my own photos from the locations.
