Unknown detonator (or something else?)

Hi all
Can anyone identify this "unit" in the photos?
The box was found in a basement after it flooded, and according to the owner, his father was a member of the danish resistance, and the box should be some kind of detonator - but I cannot seem to find anything like this anywhere?
Others speculate that it is some kind of battery or condensator, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
So, can anyone identify it?
