I have been researching my Grandfather's service history with C Company, 4th Parachute Battalion, 2nd Independent Parachute Brigade. His Company was invloved in the attack on the Chateau Les Serres in Le Muy on the 15th August 1944 (https://www.operation-dragoon.com/histo ... es-serres/).
Does anyone have any info on the possible German units stationed there at the time or could point me in the direction of getting that info? I am trying to write a History for my Father of his Father's service and I would like it to be as complete as possible.
Many thanks in advance?

In general the German forces your Grandfather fought against were probably from the 148th Reserve Division or the 242nd ID. There is also a good chance he was fighting against landsers assigned to LXII Armee Korps Headquarters. I am continuing to work on this to see if I can be more specific. Best wishes.

Thanks John for your reply. 242nd ID seems the best fit as I found out that G.R. 765 was garrisoned at Le Muy.
