Panzer Sicherungs Kompanien in Italy 1943/44.

Three Panzer-Sicherungs-Kompanien (armoured security companies) were created from existing units during the summer of 1943 to be employed in case of Italy's exit from the war „Fall Alarich“ renamed „Fall Achse“ from July 28 onwards. From September 1943, they were used to disarm the Italian Army and later to fight partisans in areas of northern Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. The Panzer Einsatz Kompanie 35 supporting the Grenadier Division H.u.D.; the 2. Panzer Sicherungs Kompanie the Brigade Doehla and the 3. Panzer Sicherungs Kompanie the 71. ID. In the spring of 1944, the three companies became part of a newly created tank unit, Panzer-Abteilung 208.

The Panzer Einsatz Kompanie 35 was created on August 8, 1943 from the 3./ PR 35 under Oberleutnant Fritz Honstetter equipped with 8 Pz Kw III 5 cm KwK and 10 Pz Kw IV 7,5 cm KwK. Later was attached also a Platoon of 7 Pz Kw III (Fl).

The 2. Panzer Sicherungs Kompanie was created on August 25 from the 10./ PR 21 under Hauptmann Rudolf Werber and equipped with 6 Pz Kw III 7,5 cm KwK (Ausf. N?); 3 Pz Kw IV 7,5 KwK and 9 Pz Kw IV 7,5 cm Lang.

The 3. Panzer Sicherungs Kompanie was created on September 11 from the 5./ PR 27 under Oberleutnant Karl-Friedrich Bohn and equipped with 15 Pz Kw III 7,5 KwK (Ausf. N)
