Hello to all :D; more follows...................

The 19th Pz at the breakthrough to Moscow.

Attack against the defensive position of Nara.

Around November 09 of 1941 the 263rd ID was relieved, but the artillery, among which were the Schw. Art Abt 427, 800 and 834 remained in place. It was expected that the last of the artillery groups would follow the 263 ID soon afterwards. The II. and III. / IR 483 were supported by the II. / AR 19, the I. / AR 19 supported the II. / SR 73 and the III. / AR 19 with the I / SR 73, the schw Art Abt. 834 and schw. Art Abt 263 with the SR 73 which was reinforced with the III. / IR 483 and the SR 74 reinforced by the AA 263 and AA 19 followed during the night from November 10 to 11 and 12, 1941. So the plans of attack were abandoned and the 19 Pz went on to defense.

Hello to all :D; more follows...................

The 19th Pz at the breakthrough to Moscow.

Attack against the defensive position of Nara.

By mid-November of 1941, along the German lines only were carried out patrols' activities and harassment fire, both in front of the lines of the 19 Pz as well as the 15 ID and 20 Pz. In the area of XIII AK in and east of St.Trojanow, 15 kilometers south of Tarutino, the enemy went to the attack with several divisions. After some success, it was rejected on November 17, 1941. The 263 ID and the SR 73 were subordinated to the XIII AK on November 17, 1941. At that time, the PR 27 was still within the framework of the XII AK, the rest of the 19 Pz remained on the defensive line Nikolskoje - bridgehead Gorki - western shore of Nara.

From October 18 till October 21 of 1941, the Kradsch. Btl 40 took over the defense of the road in Popowka. On October 19, 1941 the heavy machine-gun Platoon of Leutnant Dietel retained its position despite the artillery fire, mortars and numerical superiority of the enemy.

On October 20, 1941 the Dietel's Platoon defended the position at Popowka , although the situation appeared desperate. On October 21, 1941 ended the fighting in the area of Dmitrowsk - Popowka, with the destruction of the surrounded enemy. There were captured 4000 prisoners, 56 guns and several tanks as well as automobiles.

The Kradschützen-Bataillon 40 of the 10. Infanterie-Division (mot) in the assault on Mosccú.

Operation Typhoon. Advance towards Tula.

With the onset of the autumnal mud period, the advance became much more difficult for the Kradsch. Btl 40. The 10 ID (Mot) moved from around Sewsk to the northeast and reached without fighting major battles around Mtsensk, marching by Dmitrowsk and Orel. On November 7, 1941 the 10 ID (Mot) marched towards Orel and on November 14, 1941 the Kradsch. Btl 40 left Dmitrowsk with temperatures of 18° C below zero. However the frost allowed the troops to move forward. The Kradsch. Btl 40 reached Oljschany (south of Orel) and rested at that location until November 19, 1941. The 3. / Kradsch. Btl 40 remained behind at Dmitrowsk fulfilling a directive and delivered their vehicles to other units.

On November 26, 1941 the heavy machine guns Platoon of Leutnant Dietel shot down a Soviet plane and was mentioned in a special order of the battalion. In the area northeast of Michailow and along the Oka developed strong defensive struggles.

Post by tigre »

Hello to all ; something more about it ...........

The Kradschützen-Bataillon 40 of the 10. Infanterie-Division (mot) in the assault on Mosccú.

Operation Typhoon. Advance towards Tula.

By December 8, 1941 the 10 ID (Mot) retreated while fighting by Tschern and Gorlowo towards Orel. At Christmas day 1941 the 10 ID (Mot) left the city of Orel and was deployed on the west bank of the Oka. In the end of the year, the division was split into several groups of combat. The Kradsch. Btl 40 and other units of the 10 ID (Mot) were deployed on the road to Moscow.

From 9 to 12 January 1942 the heavy machine-gun Platoon under Leutnant Dietel successfully repelled, along with a rifle motorcyclists company in Selzo (northwest Mosalsk) three attacks carried out by the Soviets with superior forces, including a night attack, with bloody casualties for the opponent. And this despite the extreme cold, snow storms, darkness, and the frequent failures of arms.

The battle group, which belonged Leutnant Dietel and his platoon was engaged on the road Roslawl-Juchnow.
