I am looking for information about Hauptmann Hemmerich, Erwin (Kdr Pi.Btl 326). In particular I would like to know if there is an organization that I might contact in Germany to secure some further details about his military career and maybe a photo of Hauptmann Hemmerich.
I am already aware of the facts that he led 3./Pi.Btl. 106 in 1942 and was awarded the German Cross in Gold (DKiG) on 01.04.1942. I also know that he received posthumously the RK on 28.03.1945 as a Hauptmann and Kdr. of Pi.Btl. 326.
Thanks in advance for any further details/information.
Christian

Hauptmann Erwin Hemmerich (KIA 10.03.1945 - 19.03.1945?) is buried in the Rheinbrohl cemetery (Rheinbrohl is a municipality in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany), grave 23.
To bad I'm just back from that area (I was at Andernach) I could have take a picture of his grave . . .
Details about his military career you can request at the Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt), just fill out an online tracing request and be patient . . . (will take 6 > 8 month's for a answer, if details are available)

Hello Chritian
You could also contact Mike on the following email address : [email protected]
I needed research on a German PanserGrenadier Officer and within 2 weeks had a 54 page file, extracted from the NARA records in the US.
He could also do image researches. I went this route as I did not want to wait the 6-8 months via the German Military Archives...well worth the costs
