Montgomery - all SS on an island???

An SS officer wrote:

"Als ich hörte, dass alle Angehörigen der SS auf eine Insel geschickt werden sollten meldete ich mich nicht bei der Polizei und lebte in der amerikanischen Zone nur mit meinen Entlassungspapieren."

He refers to a speech on the radio by fieldmarshall Montgomery from May 1945 (Radioansprache von Feldmarschall Montgomery im Mai 1945). Does anybody know if there was indeed such a speech and - if so - anything about the exact text?

I have heard of this before too, but I don't believe that a specific island was ever identified.

Thanks John, however I do wonder when this speech was broadcasted in Germany because Knittel refers to it in something he wrote post-war.
