A number of Indonesian websites claim that Luftwaffe fighter pilot Werner Lvsche sailed to Java in 1944 aboard U-219 and after capture by the Allies escaped to fight with the Indonesian nationalists.
What can people tell me please about his wartime career in Europe and which aircraft did he fly ?
Was he involved with Me-262 or Me-163 being shipped to Japan ?
The name resembles test pilot Hans Werner Lerche, but I have never heard any suggestion that he was in Asia. Please can anybody shed some light whom the Indonesians are talking about ?
Werner Lvsche in Java 1945 ?
German Luftwaffe 1935-1945.
