[soapbox] My thoughts? If you're going to say "Jap" for Japanese, you ought to say "Gook" for Koreans, "Slopes" for Vietnamese, and "Chinks" for Chinese.

Yes, "Jap" is is a pejorative term; I don't care what was said in 1941-45 (when most Whites said "n!gger" for Blacks). And, "NO", it isn't the same as saying "Kraut" for German, "Limey" for Brits, and "Paddy" for Irish .... (but might be close).

Ian - Guy is quite correct, especially when the Web link that you posted used the proper term of Japanese. You should also go back and review the standards of conduct here and see what it says about racial and ethnic slurs
