I assume this reads Replacement Territorial Unit, Batallion 13, or perhaps 138.

Can anyone help with this identification further, and shed any light on the movements of the battallion. This latter information would be very useful for research into the find spot.

The problem here is that recruits were issued their dog tags in training with their training\depot units on them. These they kept throughout their service unless lost.

I think this is Landesschützen Ersatz Bataillon 13, it was formed in Feb.1940 in Sulzbach sebsequently moving to Prachatitz, today part of the Czech republic.

The unit would have supplied recruits to the Landesschützen batallione that belonged to Wehrkreis XIII, all 23 of them.

Landesschützen troops were regarded as security troops and were employed for things like guard duty and POW guards.

Just looking through the lists quickly, one of the battalions does ring a bell with me. Btl.809 which was employed over here in Norway on POW guard duties.
