Hello Feldgrau!

Nicht mehr anonym: http://www.doew.at/php/gestapo/

I am sorry, this website/database is only available in german language, this database contains more than 3.900 records and photos (assortment) of austrian people, taken by the Gestapo in Wien.

Even if you do not read the german language, this online-database is very impressive.

Leopold Blazek, Wien
Geboren am 14. Oktober 1896

I have searched the database for some hours, the nowadays so called mugshots, and the personal records of these people tell a story, a very important internet-project.

Please, take some time, to look at the photos at all, someone here at the Feldgrau Forum surely is able to translate the documents...

Hello Michael!

Thanks for yet another important link. What tragedies... these photos and (very short) bios really gripped me. "Nicht mehr anonym..." Sometimes (probably not often enough!) it makes me think about why I spend so much time and effort reading and researching about people like the Ritterkreuzträger and such? I don't mean that either one of these shall/must exclude the other but still... Perspectives...

Thank you Michael!

Thank you, Dok!

I think, it is very important nowadays, to also look at the "other side of the medal" too...

As a young person I was not interested about such topics, admiring the heroes so much, and wasting so much time to do this.

You know, what I mean, sure.

Thanks!

There is one open question to me, on the photos one can see the words STAPO LEITSTELLE WIEN.

Was the internal designation STAPO, and not GESTAPO ?

Hello Michael

Good site and so many sad stories FOR WHAT!? Shame on us humans.

I went to the main page @ http://www.doew.at - loads of info!!!! surfed the pages and found this:
AVA, Bürckel-Akten, 2000

Your German is much better than mine but it somehow explains the close ties between the two STAPO's

Enjoy... (if that's the proper word to use here?)

Thank you for this link, Waleed!

I am looking at these very touching and sad documents now for over 2 hours, what to say, shocking...

http://www.doew.at A very informative and important website, more than well done!

Regards

Michael

P.S. "enthaftet", what a terrible phrase, very typical for the regime...
