Anyone know why I am diverted to a site called "www.snakeoil.dom" when I follow a link to the AH forum?

My guess it that it's your browser's default serch engine, which has been hijacked by a smammer site.

I received the following response when I tried to log on this morning to AHF.

Yes, I get a similar message about the security certificate being invalid for the site I'm trying to access which it refers to as: "www.snakeoil.dom".

Yes, I'm also getting the security warning certificate thingy, but I'm also getting it for another forum, 'British Medal Forum'.

Weird stuff.

The security warning is just because Microsoft is hysterical. As I've mentioned before: Patience.

Apparently Mozilla is hysterical too, as I use Firefox.

PHP isn't as good as Invision and some of the other generic forum programmes. It's much easier to back up data using a programme like Invision. Believe it or not, some webmasters do not carry out backups.

Latest update: Apparently, the host company is having a very hard time getting some of the software up and running on the new hard drive. We don't have an ETA at the moment, but there are people working on the problem.

If anyone is having any questions, you are welcome to e-mail Marcusat [email protected] or send me a PM here on Feldgrau.

Naturally, all the sponsors on AHF will be credited in full for the downtime. You'll be contacted by Marcus once the forum is back to normal.

Sorry to hear about the continued problems.

If they are rebuilding the database it sounds like information was likely lost. Any idea how much? Anytime someone says they are rebuilding a database it means they either lost everything or they don't have full backups and have to do it by hand. Either way sounds like a bad situation.
