Want to learn German?

Post by JKS »

Greetings to you who wish to learn German.
Over the years I have successfully taught my offspring and friends German, the language of thinkers and Innovators. I am not an educator, but I have a method that will help you.
Find a German immigrant with equal interests as you have.
Buy two identical books of common interest, one as a gift, he or she will be thrilled.
Visit him as often as time will allow, think in terms of month.
You must first master three words on you own: Danke, Bitte, was heisst dass! (thank you, please, what does that mean)
Than start reading:
Words, sentences, paragraphs. He or she will correct you as you go along. Discuss meanings. Don’t worry about mistakes, you must make them. You soon will speak not only German but develop a German accent and make a friend for life. By the way, Germans are not like they are portrait by Hollywood, they love beer, wine and good music, we also like to sing.
It is a great world, Have fun,
Jochen

Hi,

I would like to learn German, but there are no German immigrants around me.

Does anybody know any useful sites on the web or maybe could recommend a descent book? I want to start from the scratch.

Thank you.

Hello,

perhaps some other things which I think are caracteristics of Germany besides Sauerkraut and Panzers :-)

More sorts of breads and cakes than in any other country this also includes sausages ...

A history which not begun 1933 and ends in 1945 with only losing another great war but a long history back to the time of the romans and beyond.

A wide spectrum of architecture of almost every known style.

A wellfaresystem which can compare itself with the best known systems of such kinds.

Unfortunatly a Government with no heart, soul and brain.

...

bye enrico

I dont know what it is about German but it is a Language i never felt comfortable speaking, My Mother is a Berliner and i spent much time around German speakers but it never stuck with me, i lived in Portugal for two years and became good at conversing in Portuguese and i have a fair grasp of French, strange really being half German i find it so difficult and its not for the lack of trying.
