Looking for relevant information about this unit. I know a little about it but would be interested in a summary as well as any commentary on its effectiveness (if any exists.)

This outline provides some good general information. For further details you might have to contact the Bundesarchiv-Militaerarchiv in Freiburg. The record number for the 252. Inf.Div. is RH 26-252 and contains the KTB (Division Diary).

Hello to all ; here follows the Campaign of France 1940..................

In this campaign were awarded with the Knight's Cross the following officers:

Oberst Schwalbe as CO of IR 461;
Maj. Welzel as CO of I./ IR 461 and
Oblt. Frhr. von Ketelhodt of 9./ IR 472

There is out there some details about the feats which allowed such distinctions?....
