I have a photo of a 'dead' German tank taken near Amiens in the summer of 1940. It has a white 'G' (Guderian?) and the registration '23026' painted in white on the turret.
Can the tank be identified from this? I mean, does anyone know - or would care to speculate - the manner in which it was lost and the fate of the crew?
Thanks!
Guderian tank?

Hi guys,
Someone at Wehrmacht-Awards was kind enough to post an image of it there. Follow the link:

Thank you, Karl, for the link.
Hmmmm ... it's clearly a Panzer II light tank, but those turret markings don't look like anything German that I've ever seen. It could be some kind of recovery mark painted on by a tank-recovery outfit. But they sure don't look like normal German tactical markings to me.
What do the rest of you guys think?

Paul
