Battalion of French soldiers at Dinant - December 1944

Post by Claudy WINANT »

Hello lads, :(

Could someone of you certifie me that in December 1944 there was a battalion of French soldiers, which was formed by members of the FFI from the region of Cambrai (Nord), defending some bridges in the region of Dinant (Belgium).

The battalion was subdivised in three sections, one section should defend the bridge on the river Meuse at Dinant, another section had to defend the bridge over the railroad at Anthée; and one at the railway bridge of Anseremme.

The report is talking about a sojourn at a "Monastry" and also in a school named "Ecole Saint Perpète".

Of which battalion are we talking? Who was their commanding officer?
Could somebody help me to find this soldiers? How did they came in the region, I mean under which orders?

Thanks for the help.

Claudy.
