Dear friends: What happened with this Division during the last days of war in Italy and the weeks thereafter? Any info is most welcome. Thank you. Walter.

Hi,

all I know, which I guess you know too, is that it surrendered to the Americans around Brescia in the north.

I'll have a bit of dig around in my books and see if I can find anything else.

HTH

In regards to the final outcome of the 114th Jager Division, my father belonged to this unit from October 1942, until their surrender in 1945. It's questionable if they surrendered to the americans, as he was taken prisoner by the British and was a "guest" in England until February 1947. I still have in my possession the British paper work confirming this.

Paul,

that's interesting. I got the info on surrendering to the Americans from lexikon der wehrmacht, so maybe they got it wrong?

Hello Howard,

I don't know if they got it wrong, or the Germans were indeed captured by the Americans and then handed over to the British. But I am very certain that the 114th Jager were sent to England as POW's.

Regards, Paul.

Information on the 114. Jäger Division

Post by Ron Klages »

Walter,

I can add a small piece of data.

I have a report dated 13 May 1945, RH 20-14/68 K that provides an accounting of personnel that had surrendered from AOK 10 and AOK 14 as well as other units in Italy and the Tirol.

It shows a total of 176,401 with the 114. Jäger Division having a total of 956.

Hope this data helps.

Best regards,
