Klaus Barbie

Post by Holmer »

From my understanding, Barbie was a member of the SS in the SD. There is a pic of him wearing what appears to be a Heer uniform. Was he in the Heer at some time or is this a different type of uniform?

It's a Polizei uniform, not Heeren.

Still, why would he be wearing a regular police uniform if he was in the SS. I have seen SS police uniforms and they did not look like that. The eagle was on the left sleeve. :?: :?:

I think you are Talking about the SS-Polizei Division.
They are not the Police'but a Combat Division formed by Policemen.

But that is definately an Army Uniform.
Not Police even though Similar to Army.

Did'nt he wear Army Uniform(He is only a NCO) to look unimportant and not give away his real position within the Local Area?
I will show you were the Iron Crosses Grow!

There is much doubt about this particular picture.
In several articles on the internet and in magazines I read that the man in the picture is maybe a look-a-like of the Feldgendarmerie and the picture was taken around 1942.

According to Barbies biographie he joined the SS in 1935 and was an officer long before 1942. But of course there could be some explaination for this picture we don't know off.

Possibly he was working undercover in a Heer outfit, and the Heer sergeant's uniform was a disguise?
