HELP! Swiss Uniform info needed!

Post by NPM »

:?:
Hi, this is my first time back here since the site has been re-done, i used to post here now and then a while back but i haven't been around lately.

anyway i recently purchased what i believe to be Swiss Army officers tunic at gunshow. i'd like to know more about it so i'll describe it. i already tried militaria online and got no response so i will try here, hopefully someone here knows about the swiss army.....
the tunic is a green/grey color, has a standing collar with hooks inside, single breasted six button front closure, four pockets with very scalloped flaps, but no closure buttons or evidence that there were ever buttons on them. the shoulder epaulets are plain, except for a red square patch at the end that is sewn into the tunic, in these patches are four small pinprick holes that suggest some form of insignia may have been present at one time, the epaulets are piped in black.
the cuffs are tough to describe, they sort of look like mock french cuffs, they are sewn down and the middle part sort of spikes up the sleeves several inches, there are two buttons and facke button holes per cuff, these fake cuffs are also piped in black. inside the cuffs and following the inner border of the "spike" there is a green patch. on this green patch is an embroidered stalk of grain.
the collar also has green patches on it, on each patch there are two stars
the label inside reads "ernst dick Uniformenfabriken" so this thing came from ernst dicks uniform factory apprently. i don't have the tunic in front of me right now so i don't remember what it says exactly but it appears to be dated 3/17/43 plus there is other writing i can't remember off hand

i know nothing about swiss uniforms at all. can someone fill me in as to what i may have here? i'm assuming from the overall construction of the garment that it may be an officer's tunic, and thinking maybe captains rank (two stars - similar to austro-hungarian method of rank on the collar only?) again this is all just conjecture. if anyone knows about swiss army stuff, or a good site with photos that i can go to to search on my own, and can help me out i'd appreciate it.
