Unteroffizier Knoll

Post by Uffz d.R. »

Dear all,

I am looking for any information on my grandfathers.

The Father of my mother was Karl Knoll.

He served with the Luftwaffe in the late years of the war, he had a flying license for several planes such as the JU 88. Most of the time he was stationed at Graz/Austria.

Apparently he only flew support flights within the German Reich.

His last rank was that of an Unteroffizier. For a short time he went into a POW Camp in Austria (?) and soon afterwards became a driving instructor for US Armed Forces personnel, either in Frankfurt/Germany or in Graz/Austria.

The father of my father was Herr Frech (never got to know him, family broke with him)

He apparently served with the SS Totenkopfdivision. During his service he also did guard duty at KL Buchenwald and KL Sachsenhausen.

His last rank was supposed to be Sturmbannfuehrer. After the capitulation he went into a Soviet POW camp.

Thank you very much in advance.

Ben
