6./SS 'Deutschland'...

Post by Timo »

Can somebody tell me who commanded 6./SS 'Deutschland' in September/October 1938? Does somebody have more info about this Kompanie or the Regiment 'Deutschland' from that period?

Thanks in advance,
Timo

Hi Timo,

as far as I know it was the 2. SS Regiment 'Deutschland' and not the 6. Regiment in 1938.

1. SS Regiment LSSAH ' Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler '
2. SS Regiment 'Deutschland'
3. SS Regiment 'Germania' later part of the 5. SS Panzer Division WIKING
4. SS Regiment 'Der Führer'
...

I'm not totaly sure about the comander but I think it could be Wilhelm Bittrich at this time.

Führer I.Sturmbann (later redesignated I.Bataillon)/SS-Standarte 3 (later granted honor title "Der Führer"): 23. Mar. 1938 - 1. Jun. 39.

Führer II./SS-Standarte "Deutschland": 29 Sep. 1936 - 23. Mar. 1938.

Führer 2./I./SS-Standarte 1 (granted honor title of "Deutschland" in Sep. 1935): 1. Apr. 1935 - 29. Sep. 1936.

Führer Politische Bereitschaft (Political Readiness Detachment) Hamburg: 25. Aug. 1934 - 1. Apr. 1935.

Transferred to SS-Verfügungstruppe: 25. Aug. 1934.

Some info on Bittrich

Thanks for your reply Enrico,

6./SS 'Deutschland' is the 6th company of II. Batallion of SS Regiment 'Deutschland', meaning that I'm looking for the commander of 6. Kompanie for September/November 1938. For the same period I'm also looking for the name of the commander of II./SS 'Deutschland'

Regards,
Timo

Timo...according to Weidinger's history of Das Reich...the II.Battalion commader of "Deutschland" was Carl-Maria Demelhuber with Siegfried Max Schultz as battalion adjutant.

I couldn't find the name of the 6.Kompanie commander though...Weidinger seems to mention every company but the 6th! :?

I hope this helps.
