I know that Micheal D. posts on this forum and I've gone to his websiute quite often but I'm looking for more information on GD.

I'd like to find accounts of their Panther and Tiger battalions, information on it's tactics and pretty much nuts and bolts stuff. As elite as this unit was I'm amazed at the lack of information available on it.

It seems to me that the SS units get all the glory, as it were.

There is plenty of info out there
If its purely Pz.Rgt.GD you are interested in try this:
"Panzer soldiers for God Honour Fatherland the History of Panzerregiment grossdeutschland"
By Hans-Joachim Jung
ISBN 0-921991-51-7 http://www.jjfpub.mb.ca/
Regarding GD's Tank regiments tactics they will be more or less the same as used by most Well equipped tank units including the SS.
Helmut Spaeters History of Panzerkorps GD is also a must have, if you are serious on GD.

Hey great thanks guys. I'm waiting for RZM to reissue God, Honor and Fatherland but I'll definitely take a look at those other books.

GD question

Post by past »

I have question. I know that in first months 1945 GD was in north Poland , and Liuthuania. But I have information that some forces from GD in January 1945 was near Oder River ( Festung Glogau). Does someone have information about it?

That was "Brandenburg"

Brandenburg was transfered to Lodz on 1/13/45; and retreated westwards from there for the remainder of the war while GD was fighting in the north.
