Hello,
I had found several articles about the 198.I.D. and after a long research I found a picture over here:
http://alifrafikkhan.blogspot.com/2010/ ... deral.html
Is this the person who you are looking for?
I have a doubt because it seems that he is wearing an non german uniform.
Sorry for my poor english
Kindly regards from Belgium.
Prosper

Prosper—
Thanks for the reply. This is an image I am very familiar with. It was taken while he was held in the POW camp in Clinton, Mississippi. There was some question about the positive identification. On one site, I saw that he was mistakenly identified as Bock von Wuelfingen. However, a signed image of Wuelfingen has been found settling that matter. Since posting here I ran across an image of Richter taken earlier in the war. Although much more heavier set at that time, there are enough facial features to say both images are of the same man. We indeed have Richter here.
