; here I leave a small contribution on this little known unit ................
Short history of Infanterie Regiment 158, 1939-40.
Basic training.
The IR 158 was organized on December 1, 1939 in WK IX. The regiment was created as a unit of 6. Wave in the Training ground Wildflecken. Personnel coming from the WK V was taken in order to organize the regiment.

Short history of Infanterie Regiment 158, 1939-40.
March to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
After its creation the regiment was transported to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The Unit was armed with Czech equipment and its 13. Company was armed with mortars.
Pictures: Departure to Kromeriz, (today) Czech Republic.

Front-employment in the Aisne Canal (Baptism of fire).
The IR 158 was subordinated to the 82nd ID and within this division was committed in the West in June 1940.

Awards for the Coy.
Following the successful completion of the campaign, the regiment was demobilized in August 1940 and remained in that capacity until February 1941.
