Require help understanding Uncles information

Hello all
I received information from my cousin about her fathers Wehrmacht history.
-He was part, as most teenagers were of the Hitler Jugend and did "Schutze" training , not the SS Unit.
-His ID number is, KA./FU7343
-He was sent to Berlin in May 1943 for Meister Schutzen and Schiess Aus Zeichnung
My dad told me he was captured in Italy and spent the rest of the war as a POW in Sydney Montana.
Being discharged in Nov 1946

-Does his ID number tell anything of his first Unit?
-Is Schutze training, and Meister Schutzen training just basic and advanced Infantry courses, or something else?

I do have a request in with Wast, but thought I would do some research in here also.

It sounds like he was trained as a marksman, although I'm not quite sure what the shooting from drawing reference is?

The marksman training is not that unusual as several men from each kompanie would be so trained in this speciality. The ID number is a mystery to me at the moment as well, although I'm sure you will get an answer to this soon.

You mentioned he may have been trained as a Marksman, is that similar to todays Sniper?
Schiessauszeichnung is a shooting award, all one word.
I am wondering if that was a POW ID number or discharge number.
I am getting my cousin to send me copies of all the info she has, might be able to make more out of it than her.

Hello Kirk,

Yes I think he may well have been a kompanie sniper, as a soecialism rather than a distinct individual. The number is not a POW number, it looks more like a personnel record number. See what your cousin can send you. I think you will be able to ask more accurate questions once you have some data in front of you.
