The Panzer Regiment 7 - Mlawa Sep 1939.
Fall Weiss.
Continuing the attack on September 4 of 1939, the whole Group Steiner moved toward Ciechanow. The 6. / PR 7 reinforced an SS rifle company which blocked a road that ran from Mlawa, because it was expected an attempt to breakthrough there, but the Polish forces were dispersed by artillery fire. An attack on the back of a Polish division did not took place and the II. / PR 7 was directed to Przasnysz; light tanks of the Regiment Command and the I. / PR 7 carried out a reconnaissance towards Drazdzewo and were beaten by Polish anti-tank weapons, losing 3 vehicles.
At 10:00 hours an alarm was received as a Polish infantry division was retreating by Wierzbowka Wola. The I. / PR 7 was alerted but it was not employed. The I. / PR 7 (reinforced) as part of the group Kleinheisterkamp marched by Krasnosielc to Rozan on September 4, 1939 at 18:00 hours. The I. / PR 7 had available for its employment: 25 Pz Kw I, 20 Pz Kw II, 1 Pz Kw III and 5 Pz Kw IV. Krasnocielsk was reached during the night without contact with the enemy.
