Dear Manfred,

welll it took nearly 2 years to find your entry here. My grandfather served in

371. Infanterie-Division
Grenadier-Regiment 671

,too.

I started a website (http://www.371id.de) about this division, because I didn't find any further information about it in the net or in books.

Maybe we can exchange some information or pictures.

Does somebody else know something about the unit?

Ralf

Hello

About 371 Infanterie Division:

Tekst from: http://militera.lib.ru/memo/russian/kat ... is/06.html

So from this tekst 371 ID was in this time in the area betwen Mysłowice and Sosnowiec in POland.
This is next to Katowice

See you and sorry for my english

Hello Manfred!
You should buy "Die Anlagenbänder zu den Kriegstagebüchern der 6. Armee" from Florian von und zu Aufseß, Selbstverlag Schwabach 2006 or David M. Glantz: Armageddon in Stalingrad: September-November 1942 (The Stalingrad Trilogy, Volume 2). University of Kansas Press, Lawrence 2009 and David M. Glantz with Jonathan M. House, To the Gates of Stalingrad: Soviet-German Combat Operations, April-August 1942 (The Stalingrad Trilogy, Volume I), University of Kansas Press, Lawrence 2009. There is also a third Volume available.
Best Regards
Matthias

Hello Janusz!
Sorry, but the documentations end in February `43. The 371th ID surrendered as far as I know in April `45 to soviet troops in Silesia.
The official documentations are more than rare in Germany from autumn `44 till the end. We had 2.5 million soldiers missing in action, mostly in the east. Only 1.2 million cases had been solved until now.
Best Regards
Matthias
