German soldier's w/ DogTags.

Post by kuschnereit »

Anyone have any pictures of german soldiers wearing their dogtags? (I.D. Disc) I have never seen a picture with someone wearing one. Oh and did most soldiers actually wear them? I imagine they must have been bulky and annoying to wear. I have two halfs that must have been from KIA's. Kinda creepy and sad to think about. Thanks.

Hello

In battle they had to wear it and I never heard something else from veterans. But of course you can´t see them on photos under the uniform.
Here one where they are seen during a lice inspection by the medic.

Might also be worth adding that soldiers could purchase or make a small pouch to hold the tag in around their neck.

btw Half tags are not necessarily from KIA's as I've found halves on sites of POW camps. They might break or were also discarded when POW.
